Another throwback to pre-opening days! Photographer Tania Dee (Verveine Studios), asked THORN floral to join the team on this Enchanted Garden editorial shoot. Held during sunset at Colbourne Lodge, which is located in one of my favourite green spaces in the city – High Park, Toronto.
Did you know Toronto’s first Architect build Colbourne Lodge for him and his wife in 1836? Talk about romance! As a west-end Toronto girl, I was all over this dreamy shoot! Colborne lodge is now a historical museum, and holds small weddings and events during warmer months.

I remember THORN floral was so fresh and new, I’d only just gotten my flower fridge delivered a few days before the shoot. In fact, these coral peonies, pink ice protea, fuschia calla lilies, feathery asparagus fern + two-toned spray carns were the first flowers to ever step inside the cooler. It was roughly 5 weeks away from grand opening. The gold leaf, hand painted lettering logo wasn’t even on the shop window yet. To build the floral crown, I sat on the floor of the studio since my stainless steel design tables hadn’t been delivered yet. I built the bouquet around paint cans and unopened boxes of display shelvings for the shop. But that’s what you do, when a fun project comes your way – you hustle through and build something really cool! Even when you’re still in the early stages of setting up shop.
