Like every couple, every wedding day is different. Some brides follow the old tradition of not seeing their soon-to-be husband until they  walking down the aisle. While others choose to include the relatively recent wedding addition known as a “first look” or “the reveal” pre-ceremony.

For those who aren’t familiar –  “the reveal” or a “first look” is a private moment when soon-to-be newlyweds see each other for the first time on their wedding day. Often the moment is full of emotion and captured by their wedding photographer.

As a florist, who oversees  countless wedding albums – a “first look” is real intimate addition their day-of schedule .  It’s a quiet, private moment before the ceremony, reception and all the other celebrations involved in their wedding day. To connect with one another. To get those initial waterworks out of the way. To just say “hey, I can’t freaking wait to marry you”.  To give your partner a real big hug and kiss without all your closest family and friends roaring in the background.

I vote yes to a wedding day reveals! I dig it! But then again, I’ve always been open to adapting age old traditions. At the end of the day, a reveal isn’t for every couple. Each wedding day is as unique as the couple itself.  I’m just a wedding florist – I can’t say whether or not you need to include this  detail in your wedding day or not. That decision is based solely on you, your partner and if you need a little insight – ask your wedding photographer or newlywed friends!
