They say great marriages are built brick by brick, day after day over a lifetime. So it’s no surprise, Shannon + Mike choose to tie the knot in Toronto’s sought-after Evergreen Brick Works. Photographed by Lindsie Grey.
THE LOVE STORY OF STEPH + CONOR
Couples can plan their heart out when it comes to their wedding day. Down to every 15 minute interval – but you know what?! Life is unpredictable as heck! Much like who we fall in love with. You just gotta roll with it – And for this couple, that’s exactly what they did! (Spoiler alert: the groom was injured on their wedding day)
On February 17, 2018 – Steph + Conor weren’t going to let a little accident stand in the way of proclaiming their love for one another. A few weeks shy of their wedding date, the groom became injured while playing basketball – which resulted in a boot-like cast, crutches and at times, even a wheel chair. Shot by talented Tamara Lockwood, Steph + Conor’s small, intimate wedding had a big, adorable story!
AN AFTERNOON WITH PHOTOGRAPHER, CASS OVERHOLT
As an entrepreneur and small business owner under the age of 30 – it’s always a treat to meet another like-minded individual. Even more of a delight, when they work in a creative field.
I met Cassaundra Overholt (Cass, for short) recently and let me tell you – she’s just the sweetest! We clicked right away chatting about the growth of our newly launched business adventures, among other common interests.
On one Sunday off – I tossed myself and a cute bouquet of flowers in my minivan to head out of the city for the afternoon. Oh, and I dragged my boyfriend along too. We headed to Toronto’s east side neighbour – Hamilton! Aka. Hamont. It’s the area where Cassandra’s upcoming photography biz is currently based out of. We met her just outside of Gage Park, which was conveniently located right near few great spots to stop and take a few shots. Just kidding – Cass scouted the locations prior, because she’s passionate about photography and building her brand.
In addition, to exploring some gems of Hamilton’s – I had the chance to chat with Cass and learn more about her passion for photography. Be sure to read more and check out our Q&A below

FLORIST + BRIDESMAID
As a wedding florist, you get the chance to build the magical day so many little girls and boys dreamt about… Their wedding day!
If you’re like me – you’ve had the lucky opportunity of getting picked as wedding florist + bridesmaid on the same wedding. Not once, but twice has this happened in my career. It’s amazing, stressful and so so so heartwarming! But since, we’re just a few days shy of an anniversary – I’ll chat about my oldest gal pal’s wedding day at Hart House (October 2017).
Meet the Mr & Mrs! Aren’t they so adorably in love?! Talk about a match made in heaven!
HARVEST MOON
Even as a wedding florist, weddings make me emotional! Often at set ups, while our couples are in the midst of their ceremony, the THORN crew are hiding out in the near by shadows. I have my crew to back me up in this – I am watching overwhelmed with emotion. I’m diligently listening to every word exchanged, every vow, and of course, that roar of applause by the guests as couples takes their first kiss as husband and wife. Every damn time, there’s tears of joy streaming down my face.
Months and months of wedding planning, quote revisions, hand selecting each and every floral stem, pre-wedding site visits, all the meetings, e-mails and phone calls – they all came down to create this absolutely perfect and special moment for two people unconditionally in love. As their florist, getting to witness that moment of our client (even from the sidelines) is completely overwhelming. Working on weddings just warms my heart!!
Shot by the talented Drew Austin, this wedding trailer is seriously good! I just adore the song selected for this! Harvest Moon by Neil Young. YASSS – Dalia, you’re such a lovely, badass, bride babe! Muah!

STYLED WITH LOVE
THORN connected with Olivia of Liv Chic Events when working together at Drysdale Tree Farms last wedding season. I was delighted when her invitation made its way into our inbox, because I love creative collaborations with local vendors! And I especially love the winter rustic vibe of this styled shoot. The ever-so talented Emily (Emily Lauren Photographer) the nailed every detail!
FIRST LOOK
Like every couple, every wedding day is different. Some brides follow the old tradition of not seeing their soon-to-be husband until they walking down the aisle. While others choose to include the relatively recent wedding addition known as a “first look” or “the reveal” pre-ceremony.
M+A WEDDING FILM
Because I couldn’t have said it better myself – “If you want to see two people who are full of life, hilarious, and pretty much always have a smile on their face, look no further than Mary, and Alex. Their touching card readings brought out the emotions of the day! Then they let it all out at the Warehouse venue, which included an amazing choreographed dance!” – Twenty 5 Films
As a wedding florist, I absolutely love seeing the professional shots from a couple’s wedding day. Captured so perfectly by Twenty 5 Films, this wedding film really lets you relive Mary + Alex’s magical day!
FLOWERS & COFFEE WITH REBECCA
Earlier this summer, I had the pleasure of hanging with the lovely, fun & talented Rebecca Wagler of Wee Three Sparrows. She is a Toronto based wedding & portrait photographer. We spent the morning chatting about life, our growing businesses, florals, photography & travel.
